Our Story

Joy Sumrall, MA, LPC-S

Life Verse: Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." NIV

Qualifications: I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Supervisor, LPC-S,

# 19601, with the state of Texas. I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, CCTP. I have additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).  I am a certified SYMBIS facilitator. I am a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACA).

Scope of Practice: My life is centered on my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As a Christian, I believe the spiritual condition of the client is an integral component of the counseling relationship. I work with a diverse population. My primary focus has been trauma; however, I do see a wide range of clients, from children to couples. I use an eclectic approach in the counseling sessions to best serve the clients in achieving their goals. Because of my desire to help people grow in their relationship with their LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ, Graceview Counseling Center was formed in June 2014. In four years, we have seen God perform miracles through His life giving transformational power.

Chelsea Rhoden, MA, LPC-Intern

Life Verse: Philippians 4:4-7

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." NIV
