Formula for Preventing Anxiety

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God."
Philippians 4:6

1. Trust in God- Proverbs 3:5-6

"Trust in the Lord with all you heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

2. Learn to Cope

a) Admit fear- 1 John 4:18
"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." 

b) Build self-esteem- 2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Chris, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come."

c) Acknowledge hurts- Hebrews 12:11
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."

d) Communicate Effectively- Ephesians 4:29
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building other's up according to their needs, that is may benefit those who listen."

e) Relaxation techniques- Matthew 11:28
"Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy burdened, and I will give you rest."

f) Evaluate priorities- Matthew 6:19-21
"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

g) Life Goals- Matthew 6:33
"Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

h) Decision making- Romans 12:2
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing, and perfect will."

3. Keep things in perspective (realistic)- Psalm 23:4

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are wih me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me."

4. Reach out to others- Matthew 7:7

"Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you."

5. Rejoice, be gentle, pray, think, act.

"And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

1. You are loved. Give thanks to the God of heaven, for His loving-kindness lasts forever. Psalms 136:26

2. You have a purpose. The Lord will finish the work He started for me. O Lord, Your loving-kindness lasts forever. Do not turn away from the works of Your hands. Psalms 138:8

3. You are worthy. But you are a chosen group of people. You are the King’s religious leaders. You are a holy nation. You belong to God. He has done this for you so you can tell others how God has called you out of darkness into His great light. 1 Peter 2:9

4. God cares about your pain. The Lord is the One Who goes before you. He will be with you. He will be faithful to you and will not leave you alone. Do not be afraid or troubled. Deuteronomy 31:8

5. You are not alone. Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will give you strength, and for sure I will help you. Yes, I will hold you up with My right hand that is right and good. Isaiah 41:10

6. You are forgiven. If we tell Him our sins, He is faithful and we can depend on Him to forgive us of our sins. He will make our lives clean from all sin. 1 John 1:9

7. You are redeemed. Because of the blood of Christ, we are bought and made free from the punishment of sin. And because of His blood, our sins are forgiven. His loving-favor to us is so rich. Ephesians 1:7

8. The difficulties will help you grow stronger. We are glad for our troubles also. We know that troubles help us learn not to give up. When we have learned not to give up, it shows we have stood the test. When we have stood the test, it gives us hope. Hope never makes us ashamed because the love of God has come into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who was given to us. Romans 5:3-5

9. You are the light of this world. The Light shines in the darkness. The darkness has never been able to put out the Light. John 1:5

10. Don’t give up. But you be strong. Do not lose strength of heart. For you will be paid for your work. 2 Chronicles 15:7

11. God has a better plan for you. For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for well-being and not for trouble, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

12. God is still writing your story. I am sure that God Who began the good work in you will keep on working in you until the day Jesus Christ comes again. Philippians 1:6

13. You have hope. Come to Me, all of you who work and have heavy loads. I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
